St John Fisher College
An Interface Fit for History.
St John Fisher College is a private liberal arts college offering 23 varsity sports to their nearly 4,000 current students. As a way to diversify their sports fanbase, they insisted on creating an interactive display that could educate and cross promote sports at the colleges many athletic facilities.
The project began by first organizing an information architecture sitemap that detailed each sport’s history, current rosters/profiles, highlights, and schedules. I then developed a user flow that overviewed the many approaches a visitor may take to enter the interface and the various routes to conversion.
CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH: St John Fisher College Marketing Department & Makeway Agency
Before creating the visual design of the interface, I first developed a series of rapid prototypes that tested the touch screen experience. To ensure the user interface design was properly scaled and fit for the final monitor, I worked on location and tested the interactive prototypes on the touch screen TV kiosks throughout the athletic facilities. Recording notes on environment, usability testing, and page engagement – I gathered this information together into a conclusive report to provide a foundation for creating the interface design.
Combining the strategies and insights established, I then created a touch screen user interface design to be featured around the college’s athletic facilities. With a rigid brand standards already in place, I developed a visual design for the interface that provided a modern educational experience, while staying true to the brand’s identity. Finally, I worked with Makeway Agency and oversaw the development of the user interface – collaborating with the development team and providing frontend assistance to ensure the design was properly fulfilled.
